In my pre-mom life I wouldn't have blinked an eye at not having pulled out my camera for weeks at a time, but now I feel terribly guilty if I skip even one activity. And this month's been one for activity, even if it hasn't all been picture-worthy.
Rebecca's preschool class had their PJ party at the first of the month, but I'd lent my camera to Rich that morning and the one picture I took on my iPod isn't too great. Rebecca's best friend from class, who's recently taken to hugging me when I come to pick up Rebecca (go figure), saw it coming and hopped up and posed right in front of everyone.
Rebecca threw up about thirty minutes before the Superbowl kick-off, so she and I missed seeing Rich's cousin and aunt at the party, which was a real bummer since they were in from CA. Then Rich and I felt yucky for a couple of days. That Wednesday was my first day feeling good again, then Rebecca's class had their Valentine's Day party on Thursday.
She had a great time and ran around like crazy for two hours after, then started throwing up in her sleep/near sleep at nap time. It was a rough day, one which included a 911 call after she told me she couldn't see, nearly passed out and her lips turned blue, a trip to the emergency room, and a rebound that included 15 or so trips to the toilet to vomit (she made it all but once) since I made the mistake of giving her a vomit bucket with Mickey Mouse on it and she REFUSED to throw up in it because she wanted to keep it forever. Then came a night of no sleep (I stayed with her for the next couple of nights to make sure she was okay), then Rich and I getting sick. What a lousy extended weekend. And then there was the constant/thorough cleaning and disinfecting. And the nasty lady at ACME that pretended I was unrecognizable from my driver's license picture when I ran in to get more Lysol. Did I look that bad? That was the day I really cried.
But there's been some good stuff, too. We joined a local indoor water park at the first of the month, and managed to go twice before we got sick. Last week Rich, Rebecca, and Nana went to Mikado and Rebecca had her first hibachi experience. They had a great time, and everyone was amazed that Rebecca loved to eat everything in sight. And today we went back to the Discovery Museum and PetSmart. Plus we had two days of sunshine and sixty degrees this week and actually got to play outside.
Unfortunately this week I also convinced Rich to go get his oil changed with us and we got rear-ended on the way from there to the library. I'm ready for March.
