Hogle Zoo

We weren't really sure how much Rebecca would get out of our trip to the zoo, but she absolutely LOVED it.  She was incredibly good at picking out the animals, and equally good at picking out the small children around us.  She points at everything these days--sooo cute.  It was a really hot day, and of course she refused to keep her hat on for long ( should get that on video), so we stuck to the shade where possible, and as it got hotter Rich continually doused her with water.

We saw monkeys,

the white alligator (I think it's just visiting--only seven in the world or something like that),

bears (she said "bear"),

giraffes,

and tigers,

then took a lunch break, where I was sure she'd need a nap.  But a splash of water to the head and she was up and running again,

so we visited the small animal displays (which still stink as horribly as I remember from childhood).

Sadly, she passed out before we got to the train, so we'll save that for another trip.

She loved the elephant (I used the video camera for the part of the show we caught and don't have any pictures), but really liked the giraffes and little turtles best.

At eight bucks for an adult ticket and free parking, we'll be back at the zoo every time we're in the area.  We actually spent more in the gift shop--we got a $20 lift-the-flap book that makes animal sounds.  Can't beat that.  And Grandma got her a cute little shirt.
