Independence Weekend

I need to preface this by mentioning that there were well over two hundred photos from the weekend in my camera; so even if this seems like a lot, I've really pared it down.

The weekend started Thursday night, when Rich and Rebecca let the fish in the tank go (back in the lake) and we went to see Aunt Cass on her 93rd birthday.

Friday morning we took off for AC, and after a delicious brunch at Gilchrest's, visited the aquarium in Gardner's Basin. Lots of touching allowed, which is great for Becca.

Then we headed over to Nana's boat, where Nana, Barry, Becca, and Rich went off on a fishing excursion. (I didn't want my tendency toward sea-sickness to ruin the trip, so I hung out at the AC house for a while, then picked them up for dinner at the end of the day.)

Saturday morning was our beach day--there were little waves, but Rich caught a few while Becca and I enjoyed the sand, then he took her out on her first surfing adventure.

We met Nana at the pool/marina in the afternoon, then headed to the Ocean City boardwalk for the evening. Note: no matter how much your 3-year-old insists that she wants to try miniature golf, she's not ready. She is ready, though, for her first hermit crab. And one game of ski-ball can, literally, last forever, unless Dad steps in and throws a couple back.

Rebecca made a friend in line for the Dumbo ride, so they went on the next couple together.

And since Becca was, miraculously, still awake, we stopped by Lucy on our way back to AC.

Sunday was rainy, so we packed up and headed home in the day instead of that night, and spent Monday (the 4th) at the lake, then set off a couple of fireworks in the back yard before heading to a local township's fireworks (where I accidently left my camera in the car).
